Diana Jones

Mp3]
Diana's music is based on the themes of her life: love, loss
and redemption. She began her life in a NYC welfare hospital
where she was given up for adoption at birth. Diana grew up
yearning for a sense of belonging and the truth about her
life. Music became her solace, by age seven she was playing
a little plywood guitar. As she grew, so did her love of music,
the pull to find her roots and the truth about her birth.
After studying art and American history in college Diana began
to discover her own history. With the help of a sympathetic
hospital clerk, Diana found her birth mother and family in
the rural south of the Tennessee Mountains. She was welcomed
with open arms and learned about her heritage, including her
grandfather, who played music with Chet Atkins and Dolly Parton.
She now understood where she got her voice, fiery Irish nature,
wide-set eyes and Native American cheekbones.Diana moved south
to be near her family and pursue music. Her first recording
appeared in 1996. Long hours spent around the Kerrville campfires
and the mentoring and encouragement of many in the fertile
Austin and Nashville music scenes helped Diana to develop
her textured and unique style. She is grateful.

To put it simply, we wanted something different. It all began
when present guitarist Tom Rosato and Bassist Dave Anderson
broke away from a previous band. At the time, Rosato was drummer
for the group, and at the lead was a despicable guitarist who
was the chief cause for the break. Nevertheless, Anderson and
Rosato were searching for an environment free of oppression
and full of music.
That year, the two musicians were searching for local talent.
Quickly, James Zemlock was an obvious necessity to the new group.
His talent on the drums surpassed all those who could play the
instrument. However, a new twist was required in the band to
get a different sound that would set Metro Gnome aside from
all others. Josh Duma was a friend of all three members, and
was known for his saxophone skills throughout Ulster County.
This new rock saxophone sound immediately caught people‚s
attention. Finally, vocalist Mark Davidson was added to complete
the 5th piece. Metro Gnome is currently working on their first
record, and hopes to capture the hearts, minds, and souls of
all those who have felt some degree of pain in life.

THE FRISBEE SONG (ASCAP) (The Saga of Mr. Drew) © 2003,
Karen Whitman and Richard Pantell
Take a classical and East European folk music influenced singer/songwriter
with a flair for puns and limericks, and pair her with an American
folk and rock influenced singer/songwriter who was educated
by Mad Magazine, and you have the duo of Whitman and Pantell.
Karen Whitman and Rick Pantell work with acoustic and electric
instruments to support Karen's warm, honest and natural vocals
on mostly original songs reflecting the ups and downs of our
times.
Both born in the Bronx, they each came to Woodstock where they
eventually met through their love of the visual arts. After
showing each other (quite literally) their etchings, they discovered
that they could also make beautiful music together. They've
been harmonizing ever since.
Their music ranges from the downright nonsensical to the thoroughly
thought provoking (Caution: Beware of the occasional tear-jerker,
but you shall rise again).
The Frisbee Song a shining example of the lengths to which a
Whitman and Pantell collaboration can go, can also be found
on their wild and wonderful CD, Chicken Fat Pudding and Other

About this song,Justin says,I wrote this late on a Saturday
night at the end of August 2002. I had just escaped from some
hellishly loud hip hop party. I needed some soothing peace.

Tom Desisto and Marty Kornblum both moved to Woodstock, NY from
New York City never having run into each other in the NYC downtown
music scene. Marty, a songwriter and visual artist put
together bands like the Tickets while writing songs with various
other writer/performers. Tom, a whiz-kid composer/producer,
covered every base from dance remixes to Barbie commercials
while playing guitar in speed metal/world music hybrid bands.
They met while searching for alternative education for their
children. Immediately drawn to each other through their mutual
lust for deep lyrics, exotic musical textures, and eurhythmy,
they formed Backward Dog and started recording. Backward Dog‚s
performance of their original tune "Hey Natty", was
included in the movie and on the soundtrack of Jonathan Demme‚s
The Truth About Charlie, released in 2002. Later this
year, the group will be releasing its first CD on East Scratch

Backward Dog‚s song, Fish Soup, on this compilation CD,

I was a rock-n-roll baby. I grew up among musicians. I can‚t
remember a time in my life when I didn‚t sing. There are
certain natural abilities that we are born with. I was born
singing. Through the years music has been an outlet where I
could focus my energy and regain mental and emotional strength.
My childhood was spent in various theater and dance groups.
I wanted to do everything. My endeavors brought me to dance
on the lawns of the White House and Disney World as well as
sing at Woodstock ‚94 and perform the national anthem
at a NASA space launch. It wasn‚t until I was 15 that
I took up the guitar. I realized that performing was not enough
for me; I wanted to create my own message to send out to the
world. At 18 I traveled to London to study music. I spent six
extraordinary months gigging throughout the city‚s finest
and dingiest clubs. This is when my music really began to flourish.
I came home with many new life experiences, in addition to a
slew of songs inspired by adventure, solitude, and wonderment.
My life's dream is to share my music and message with the world.

his 35-year-career while amassing a strong following overseas,
Woodstock-based singer/songwriter/guitarist Tom Pacheco was

After playing the club circuit from New York to Austin during

to a decade-long move to Ireland in 1987. Albums released in
Europe won him many fans there, and six of Tom's songs became
Top 5 Norwegian hits for that country's leading country music

off and in various combinations - since the late 1960's. They
are currently writing and recording an album of new material,
from which "Your Guess" is taken. Their occupations
outside BAT are varied: Mark Malevani, the lead singer on "Your

currently working on a series of crime novels. Tom Desisto,
who plays lead, 12-string and bass guitars on the track, is
an Emmy-nominated composer and producer whose music has been

On Carl Mateo‚s CD, Big White House, off beat icons of
the urban landscape in songs such as "Cyclone Day"
and "Kool Man" (Kool Man Ice Cream trucks in Brooklyn)
are intertwined with images from nature as in "BirdŒs
Eye" and the title cut, "Big White House", to
create the foundation for an atmospheric and personal recording.
"The shortest cut on Mateo‚s album, "Bird's
Eye," manages to paint a mood that haunts you long after
its two minutes have flown by, underlining the simple truth
of such lyrics as "the sky is forever/it will pass by my
bones." Singing clearly, deliberately, in the lower register,
Mateo croons, "I have taken the bird‚s eye/I have
taken no lie," and then abruptly repeats the rhyme in a
high, ringing, expressive tenor, freeing the pent up emotion
of the song." (Woodstock Times)
Carl‚s debut solo recording has the vibe and intimate
feel of an ensemble performance with "Fuzzy guitars, swirling
Hammond B-3, George Rush‚s bass contributions, and Brian
Mellick's intriguing percussion painting a fine landscape on
tunes such as "Kool Man", "Open Sky", "Sabotage",
and "One Day"."(Chronogram)

The Stuffettes with singer Zoe Isaacson in the summer of 1999.
The Stuffettes first self-titled collection was recorded on

since the style of the music couldn‚t be defined easily,
it would just be defined as „stuff‰, hence the name
The Stuffettes. In the summer of 2000, Vanessa Kellogg, formerly
of the band Toast from Long Island, started playing bass and

Project, joined the band for a short time as the drummer before
he left to work on other projects in Europe. Saundi, from Woodstock,
continues to deejay and write music for films and television.
Zoe Isaacson is living in Brooklyn and has been working on various
projects such as being the creator of the These Are the People

Destination Unknown [Download

Somehow I went from being a dancer and choreographer to being
a songwriter. I was living in New York and was involved
in the downtown dance and music scene, teaching and choreographing
rock videos, when the abstraction of dance began falling short
of an emerging impulse to voice my realist views. Simultaneously
an affection for the kinesthetic evolved into a love of the
finer, more subtle vibrations of sound.
Weaving thoughts into poetry, stripping them of false pretenses
and listening for their intrinsic melodies started a catharsis
that culminates each time I send a song up through quivering
vocal cords and it reverberates through my body and beyond.
I live and perform in N.Y. and Woodstock. My poetry has
been published in The Gallatin Review, and I continue to teach
dance at New York University....

Barbara T. Paras
Keeper of the Faith [Download
Mp3]
Her roots are in a small town outside New York City, in Staten
Island. At the early age of twelve, she was writing songs
on a borrowed guitar. By the age of sixteen, she had her own
twelve-string guitar and was already a seasoned performer,
having played in a multitude of places all over the city.
Even then Barbara T. Paras was known for her unusual, hard-hitting,
percussive guitar style. Later, she jumped on the bandwagon
with a few local musicians to help set the course of her own
music. By the time she was finished dusting off her shoes,
she was performing her own songs with her own band. Or simply
by herself.
Barbara has opened for Pete Townshend, Joni Mitchell, and
Lou Reed at „A Day In The Garden‰ & „Woodstock‰.
She‚s played at events sponsored by NBC 4, Miller Brewing,
NY Newsday, WQHT/Hot 97, WPLJ/95.5, and has headlined with
Nazareth and Rare Earth,
in addition to headlining her own show at Bryant Park, NYC.
Her voice is the product of an intense, classical tenure at
Carnegie Hall served up rock Œn‚ roll style.
Barbara‚s songs are brutally honest. Her delivery is
powerfully passionate. Seeing is believing.

"Sophisticated troubadours" The Princes of Serendip have brought their searching and whimsical
wizardry to the Woodstock area for seven years. They love exploring
the spectrum from laughter to tears, and have been seen in many
benefits for peace and the environment.
"Coalescing
Old World balladry with mountain folk, Celtic swing with
Vivaldian flourish, these baroque pranksters entrance their
audience,
creating entirely new worlds of child-like, though adult themed,
wonder.... The Princes Of Serendip prove, both onstage and on
their recordings, that imagination, and a fearless originality,
go a long, long, way." - Mike Jurkovic, Rhythm & News
"A transcendental, magical, spiritual evening.... a perfect
marriage of word and song." - Sam Rand, Berkshire Record
"[T. G. Vanini's] song-poems limn the richness of both
the mortal world and the deathless realm of enchantment, and
that magical point at which they intersect." - Mikhail
Horowitz, Almanac

Liz.Francesconi: Guitar
Robert Musac: Drums
We are a newly formed band in the Ulster County area and have
been playing for about a year now. At this point we have only
played a few small places in the areas of New Paltz, Kingston
and Woodstock. Liz has been playing guitar for about eight years
but only seriously for about 2 years now. Robert Musac has been
playing drums for 15 years and has played in numerous bands
from blues to folk to hard rock. We are an instrumental band.
The sound ranges from melodic and soft to a heavier sound but
with a smooth transition. Our main concern is getting more live
experience. We have a very dynamic and free sound that can take
you from a calm melody to a loud rock serenade, this music goes
from one extreme to another and takes the listener along from
one point to the next through transition. The drums and guitar
in this band work together creating a new and innovative sound.
